Hogwarts comes to Orlando in Spring 2010
- The late senator Ted Kennedy’s memoir was released on Monday, and reviewers are praising its sincerity and insight. The Los Angeles Times gives the book a detailed and thoughtful review, calling it a “touchingly candid, big-hearted and altogether superb memoir.” From Chappaquiddick to his big shot older brothers, Kennedy (and his team of writers) addresses the topics even those of us who aren’t political junkies will enjoy.
- Do you dream of a place in modern America where everyone is talking about literature and authors need to walk down the sidewalk “pseudo incognito with shades on?” That scene was reality last weekend at the Brooklyn Book Festival. Given that so many authors live in and around New York, the festival draws big names, and this year Colson Whitehead, Mary Gaitskill, and Jonathan Lethem were among the many writers interacting with fans at signings and panels. The Millions gives a full report of the weekend’s activities and its panel on literature and technology.
- In a few months, Harry Potter fans will have the chance to visit Hogwarts - at the Universal Orlando Resort, anyway. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open as an attraction in Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park and feature Potter-themed rides, shops, and food. There will be even be chocolate frogs and a joke shop selling Sneakoscopes. The Guardian has details about the park’s development and the rides visitors can expect. It will make you want to go, but you’ll have to wait until the spring.
