All of the world's greatest shushers in one place at one time

It’s our favorite time of the year, dear readers. Time to let our inner library-nerd loose as we get our Dewey Decimal on at the annual American Library Association conference! Some may scoff, but, for the uninitiated, ALA is simply one of the coolest, information-packed events of the year for ANYONE who loves books. Where else can you watch Neil Gaiman accept his Newbery Medal, get a glimpse at how technology is going to make reading exponentially more futuristic in the coming years, AND mingle and mix with some of the smartest, most engaged book enthusiasts in the world? It’s a reading man’s Valhalla and we’re jazzed that Books & Authors will be attending this year’s conference in Chicago.

Here’s the rundown of the major events at ALA this year and here’s a great resource if you just want to learn more about the conference.

If you want to see how famous authors react to ALA this year, you might want to follow Neil Gaiman, Lisa Scottoline, Cokie Roberts, or Laurie Halse Anderson on Twitter since they’ll all either be speaking or accepting an award.
