The last book in Stieg Larsson's bestselling trilogy

The last book in Stieg Larsson's bestselling trilogy

First there was The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, followed by last summer’s The Girl Who Played With Fire, and now, finally, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.  The “girl” in the titles is, of course, Lisbeth Salander, the gutsy, mysterious hacker who steals the show in Stieg Larsson’s bestselling trilogy.  In the first two books, Salander and protagonist Mikael Blomkvist (a magazine publisher and journalist) expose corrupt companies, capture criminals, and somehow manage to stay alive (barely).  The third book is in the same vein, but this time Salander must help Blomkvist while fighting for her life in the ICU (read the second book to find out why).  Larsson’s exciting plots, smart writing, and strong female characters have created millions of fans, though some critics fault Larsson for letting his political messages occasionally get in the way of the plot.  Unfortunately, Larsson died before seeing his trilogy published, because these books have become quite a phenomenon.  Lucky for you, summer is a perfect time to jump on the bandwagon.

“Larsson was a cerebral, high-minded activist and self-proclaimed feminist who happened to have a God-given gift for pulse-racing narrative. [...] Book 3, gratifyingly, brings the action back to a place somewhat resembling reality” – David Kamp, New York Times

“It sometimes seems that Larsson’s interest in novelistic detail begins and ends with the contents of a sandwich that one of his characters makes before dashing out on some potentially dangerous errand.” – Richard Schickel, Los Angeles Times

“This is a grown-up novel for grown-up readers, who want something more than a quick fix and a car chase.” – Kate Mosse, The Guardian
